After a man in Tacoma, Washington, said he found a syringe in a can of Diet Pepsi, more than 50 similar tampering incidents were reported around the country. Noting that the reports involved cans filled at different times in different plants, company officials said it was "almost incomprehensible" that so many could have been tampered with.
