Special attention has this week been paid to developing effective defense for the Princeton style of play, particularly that which resembles the Minnesota shift. Yesterday the University could not be puzzled by the quick changes, but smothered them as rapidly as ordinary formations...
...unique shift was tried in football practice yesterday, when the second team backs were used behind the first team line, and the first string backs behind the second string line. The result of this experimental line-up was that, although scrimmage lasted a full hour, there was no scoring on either side. Harbison, Merkle, Pumpelly, and Cornell have been out of the game on account of illness. Cornell is the only member of this last group who will return soon...
