...unique shift was tried in football practice yesterday, when the second team backs were used behind the first team line, and the first string backs behind the second string line. The result of this experimental line-up was that, although scrimmage lasted a full hour, there was no scoring on either side. The regular backfield found the defence of its own line too powerful, and could not gain consistently, once being held for downs on the 1-yard line. ...most interesting event forthcoming yesterday was a shift in the order of the candidates for the quarterback position. In the Bates game, Bradlee was first choice, Freedley second, and Logan third. Yesterday, this order was exactly reversed, Logan running Team A, Freedley Team B, and Bradlee being kept on the sidelines. This change was due to the fact that in Saturday's game Logan, who played during the third period, showed vastly better generalship than either of the others. Bradlee's work lacked snap, and he showed a marked tendency to fumble and miss signals. The shift is, of course...

During the last week Yale has been practicing the wing-shift plays brought East by T. Shevlin. Shevlin has given the eleven some scoring combinations which have worked well on the scrubs and will be tried today. Warren, Pendleton, Wheeler, Avery, and Talbott are all veterans who have been compelled to retire during the week to allow substitutes to be tried in their places. Harbison, Merkle, Pumpelly, and Cornell have been out of the game on account of illness. Cornell is the only member of this last group who will return soon...
