...least that's the advice of the jungle- hardened rangers who patrol just one corner of this 1.9 million - acre (7,700 sq km) wilderness. They are trained by the London-based conservation group Fauna and Flora International (FFI) to protect Ulu Masen from illegal loggers and poachers, who greedily eye its valuable hardwoods and teeming wildlife: elephants, gibbons, tigers, leopards, bears, pythons and scaly anteaters. The rangers' work might seem remote from the modern world, but it has implications far beyond Ulu Masen's frontiers - from Africa and the Amazon, which along with Indonesia are home to what...
...India wants to honor the famously resilient spirit of Mumbai, it could begin by acknowledging that India no longer "lives in its villages" as Mahatma Gandhi said it did - at least not in the same way. Town and country are more connected than ever. Most of India's wealth is created in its cities, generating the tax revenues that fund the schools, electricity and clean water villages need so desperately. MIT's Andrew Lo, a top finance scholar, has made technical analysis one of his main research topics. So maybe there...
Hillcoat does make one important addition to the story: flashbacks to what life was like when the Woman (Charlize Theron) was still alive. They weren't good times--the world was well on the way to environmental ruin--but at least the Man still had a partner. Theron's presence may be a nod to producers who wanted a female star in the picture, but it's not entirely successful in terms of adhering to McCarthy's intent. Theron is graceful as always, but meeting the Woman only makes her absence more troubling and alters our relationship with...
...propaganda apparatus erected by TIME to support Clinton reveals itself once again in Joe Klein's "intimate portrait"--yet another example of how Time serves as her permanent, adoring advocate. Come on, TIME: printing PAID POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT on each page is the least...
