The group's primary emphasis is on opposing theCLT petition and supporting Democratic SenatorJohn F. Kerry's re-election bid, said Nina Nowak'93, director of the club's anti-CLT campaign.
The club distributed anti-CLT leaflets at theOktoberfest Sunday and has been sending members towork at the Kerry headquarters in Boston, saidNowak.
And while glitzier campaign issues have cast a long shadow in Rappaport's fight to unseat Democratic Sen. John F. Kerry, the reform plan has caught the eyes of education experts, who remain deeply divided on its prospects for success.
"Kerry and Dukakis were elected as a team... They think like a team... They are philosophical Siamese twins," he said.
Rappaport's advisors said they anticipated a rough fight against the incumbent senator. "Based on John Kerry's record, I guess he will use every smear possible," said Gary McMillan, Rappaport's press secretary.
