...able to gain consistently. The Seniors out-played the Sophomores in the first part of the second half, but were in turn out-played later in the same period. The features of the game were long runs by Brooks and Dick. N. H. Foster and Floyd in the backfield and Park in the line did the best for the Sophomores, while Brooks and Hoffman excelled for the Seniors...

This year's Freshman team is unusually strong and has won every game played so far. They defeated Groton for the first time in five years and won from Exeter and the Brown freshmen, both of whom defeated the 1911 team last year. The backfield is especially strong, Pierce and Frothingham being consistent ground gainers. The Yale freshmen outweigh Harvard, and have shown a good deal of reserve power when hard pressed. They have won all their games, defeating Andover, with whom the Harvard Freshmen played a tie game, by the score of 22 to 0. This makes Yale...

Secret work for the team was continued yesterday, and consisted mainly of a 35-minute signal practice. Afterwards the team praticed defensive formations. Cutler, Gray, Kennard and Sprague kicked to the backs, and Newhall coached Cutler in kicking goals and catching punts in the backfield. ...yard line, they were unable to gain again and lost the ball on downs. Both teams used the forward pass frequently. Harvard was particularly successful, while Carlisle failed on all but one. Cutler and Fish worked the pass to perfection and never failed to gain with it. The backfield is still weak in receiving kicks, and in the second half Cutler fumbled a punt from Thorpe on the 40-yard line, Leslie finally recovering the ball on the 14-yard line...

...individual work, Fish and MacKay stood out in the line. Fish was always active and ran out the forward passes for good gains. MacKay broke through the Indian line on nearly every play, blocking kicks and breaking up interference. Crowley and Browne played well, Browne strengthening the backfield considerably on the defence. Cutler got his plays off smoothly and with good speed, but was slightly outpunted by Thorpe. The substitution of fresh men in the backfield at critical moments proved more than successful, Leslie, Smith and Ver Wiebe all doing well. White, Corbett and Leslie were the best ground gainers...
