...Monday the nine went to Philadelphia and played a most exciting game with the University of Pennsylvania. This was the only game which Harvard lost. There was a great crowd present, almost four thousand people. Bayne pitched for Pennsylvania and proved most effective. He struck out the first five men who faced him. Then he was hit by a hot liner in the wrist and for two innings lost his speed. He, however, soon recovered it and had things his own way.
