...large crowd witnessed the finals in the tennis tournament which were played yesterday afternoon on the Carey court. Whitman had little trouble in defeating Thomas in three straight sets, as Thomas played very badly most of the time. A strong wind was blowing across the court and made good lobbing impossible. Thomas did not run up on his service as much as he usually does, while Whitman came up whenever possible and his net play was the feature of the match.
