...University association football team played a tie game with the Lowell Textile School on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon, each team scoring once. Harvard scored on a penalty after about 10 minutes of play in the first half, and Lowell tied by straight play in the second. Owing to a strong west wind accurate shooting was impossible, which accounts for the low score. The University team played the best all around game, but the forwards lacked concentrated team work. Brooks, Reggio and Robinson played well for Harvard, and E. Nelson and Walmsely did the best work for Lowell...
Dartmouth played a decidedly tricky and interesting game of football, the plays running rapidly from line bucks, criss-cross runs, and end runs to forward passes, onside kicks, and fake kicks from placement. Harvard, on the other hand, relied mainly on straight football, practically the only variations being forward passes and onside kicks from formation. ...signal practice of the University eleven, against the second team, lasting over half an hour, was the most important feature of yesterday's work. All sorts of plays were tried, including the forward pass and straight line bucks. On the whole the work was excellent, for the men showed a great deal of life in their actions and generally knew what was required of them. Hall ran the eleven well, and Starr showed very good form at end, seldom missing the ball on passes...
...played in the Brown game last Saturday were worked very lightly, Lockwood and Wendell being given a day's rest. The University team substitutes and the second team had a 20-minute scrimmage in which the first eleven scored two touchdowns. The first was made by straight rushing, the second on a fumble by Graydon on Hall's attempted drop kick for the first team, Nourse falling on the ball over the line. Starr kicked both the goals from touchdowns. White was tried at right halfback in the scrimmage and played a very creditable game. Peirce played exceptionally well...
