...first and second Freshman four-oar crews had another half-mile race yesterday afternoon downstream over the straight stretch below the Brighton bridge. The order was the same as on the previous day, except that the strokes were interchanged, Maxwell being put in the first crew, and Meyer in the second. The first crew, which was able to maintain a higher stroke, gradually forged ahead, finishing about a length in front of the second crew...

Brown met its first defeat of the season last week at the hands of the All-Collegiates, a team composed of former college players. This record of straight victories is remarkable and shows that Brown's team this year stands an excellent chance of repeating the success of last year's nine, which was generally considered second only to Princeton. Tift and Paine, Brown's clever battery of the past three years, are still eligible, and are as effective as ever. Brown and Yale played a tie game some time ago which was stopped at the end of the 14th...

Most of the men time the ball fairly well, but there is still a marked tendency to pull away from the plate. The fielders have had nothing but straight grounders to handle and are fairly accurate, but their throwing is still very erratic...

...Saturday, although won by the score of 22 to 9 showed the weakness of the University team substitutes many of whom were played in order not to overwork the better men. Dartmouth played a tricky game which proved very advantageous under the new rules, whereas Harvard relied mainly on straight football, practically the only variation being forward passes and onside kicks from formation. The noticeable feature of the game was the excellent way in which the members of the team followed the ball...
