...playing for the champion ship, and it appears that all except Cornell, if we are informed correctly, have regular professional players on their nines. It may be because we are bigoted on the subject of professionalism, but we confess that we are unable to see what possible right a nine, composed partially of professional players, has to play for a college championship any more than a league nine, under the name of some particular college, would have. Such games are no more college games than the league games are. It seems strange that it is allowed, for such procedure...

Princeton played rather a loose fielding game; Cooper and Van Etten did their best work. Harlan's hands were in a very bad condition, and in the fifth inning he changed places with Shaw at right field. Moffatt broke a finger in the same inning and Larkin took his place at first base. They were entirely unable to hit Nichols' delivery...

...YARDS HURDLE RACE,contested for by S. Abbott, '87, G. R. Agassiz, '84, J. D. Bradley, '86, and S. Cary, '86. The men got off all right at the second trial and Agassiz took the lead, but fell badly at the third hurdle. He picked himself up and ran on. Cary also tripped, and as he injured his leg did not continue the race. Bradley, who had taken the lead after Agassiz's fall, easily held it and came in first with Abbot a bad second. The winner's time was 19 1-4 seconds...

...nine played a practice game yesterday with the Beacons and were defeated by the score of 10 to 7. Nichols pitched for the Beacons and was very effective, while Boyden and Tilden pitched and caught for Harvard. LeMoyne played right field for our nine and Keep took his place at left. The game was interesting only in that it showed how effective Nichols might be against the nine who had practiced with him all winter. He struck out eight men and only seven scattering hits were made off his delivery...
