Captain James A. Shannon has been made a major in his own regiment, the 11th Cavalry, but has been assigned to the 42nd, or "Rainbow," Division, at Camp Mills, Mineola, L. I. He is second in command of the divisional ammunition, sanitary, supply, and headquarters trains, and is in charge of the military police companies.
