Men living at Radcliffe received letters this week reminding them of their option to move to Harvard Houses for the second semester and asking them to notify Epps' office of their intentions by Dec. 15.
In the event of vacancies at Radcliffe, Mather House sophomores will be given first priority to move in order to reduce the number and alleviate the imbalance of sophomores at Mather. Epps explained, "For many of them, it's like having a second freshman year."
Genevieve Austin, dean of Residence at Radcliffe, stressed the importance of keeping the present male-female ratio at Radcliffe as well as at Harvard. She said, "As far as men and women are concerned, it has to be a man for a man and a girl for a girl."
Epps estimated that only 25 out of the 307 men currently living at Radcliffe will want to move to move to one of the Harvard Houses at midyear.
