The teams were made up as follows: '82 - Chalfant, Lawrence (captain), Jennings, Perin, and Warren (anchor); '83 - Hammond (captain), Curtis, Kip, Morrison, and Sawyer (anchor). The first pull was won, after a sharp struggle, by '83, in 40 seconds, amidst great excitement.
