...year Harvard's Cleary brothers led the Americans over the Russians. Hockey has been downhill ever since for Riley, who is in his 22nd season. Army obviously does not go into the Canadian woods to recruit hockey players, and Riley has been forced to create teams out of lesser Massachusetts and Connecticut high school players...
...well-heeled going into 1972, denounced it. The plan would allow a taxpayer to check off $1 as a contribution to the presidential campaign. Under the formula, each of the major parties would be permitted to spend up to $20.4 million in 1972, provided enough taxpayers cooperate. Lesser amounts would be given to minor party candidates; George Wallace, for example, would receive an estimated $6,000,000. ...weighed in at 227 Ibs., his heaviest ever, peppered away during the first ten rounds with his rat-a-tat-tat left jabs and a supposedly merciful "new" punch he calls the "linger on," a light chopping right designed to daze but not drop a lesser opponent. The title work, Goat Songs, is something else. A series of erotic recollections links a man to his boyhood. The episodes are brief: a flicker of memory, a few moments of musing. Perceptions...
Othello too hangs helplessly on the overpowering false persuasions of Pachoda's Iago. Curt Anderson is an Othello of imposing appearance but with a somewhat lesser capacity for tortured response to Iago's calculated hints. But if it weren't that Othello's peculiar virtue is trust in other men--and his peculiar vice to distrust his own feelings in the unfamiliar pursuit of love--the battle wouldn't be worth the fighting. Iago so overpowers the Moor that pity keeps us on Othello's side much longer than hope. Though he plays with just enough confidence and grace...
