Born in Grotikan, Germany, Professor von Jagemann was educated at Naumberg. Leipzig, and Tubingen, coming to the United States in 1881, and receiving his doctor's degree at Johns Hopkins three year later. From 1884 to 1886 he was professor of modern languages at Earlham College 1nd and for the next three years he was professor of Germanic languages at Indiana University.
