...game he plays extraordinarily well. Breitbart has become the Web's most combative conservative impresario - part new-media mogul, part Barnumesque scamp. Last fall, he launched Big Government, the flagship of his wickedly right-of-center sites, which also include Big Hollywood, Big Journalism - which described the House's March 21 passage of the health care reform bill as a "socialist putsch" - and the news aggregators Breitbart.com and Breitbart.tv. On its first day of business, Big Government produced a scoop: undercover filmmakers James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles - the would-be Borats of the right - had shot videos that appeared...

British rock impresario and Africa aid promoter Bob Geldof, a.k.a. "Saint Bob," was back in the headlines this past week after blowing his stack at the BBC for a story it aired alleging that Ethiopian rebels had diverted 95% of the $100 million in Ethiopian famine relief raised in the mid-1980s - much of it by Geldof's iconic Band Aid concert...

For once, it's the spectators who will be taking a turn. For his new show, Darshan, running through June 2010, Bartabas has completely transformed the Zingaro arena, hitherto evocative of an Elizabethan theater-in-the-round. Now it is the audience that is at the center, arranged upon a pyramidal seating structure. Encircled by a riding track and massive screens upon which shadows are projected...

...calculatedly scandalous Truth or Dare, and closer to old let's-put-on-a-show musicals like the Busby Berkeley 42nd Street, the Judy Garland-Mickey Rooney Babes in Arms and the Broadway standard A Chorus Line. It has all the elements: the big star (Jackson), the guiding impresario (Ortega) and, supporting them, a whole retinue of gifted, ambitious singers and dancers. The movie opens with the prospective dancers' declarations of the inspirational impact that Jackson has had on them. (O.K., they really need this job, but the effusions sound genuine.) Later, the men have to rehearse one of Jackson...
