New York's Surrogate Court yesterday gave final approval to the will of Mrs. Hetty Green Wilks under which the University receives $2,000,000. The will had been questioned by distant relatives of the late Mrs. Wilks.
Daughter of the fabulous Hetty Green, dubbed the "Witch of Wall Street" by business partners, Mrs. Wilks left over $20,000,000 of her estate to New England schools. Six schools, in addition to Harvard, were left $2,000,000 each, the top gift.

Hetty Green was the leading woman financier of Wall Street in the late 19th and early 20th century. At her death in 1916, she was said to be worth between 100 and 125 million dollars.
