Football players are needed for the additional spring practice, and 17 is indeed a small number of energetic candidates for the University team. True, the weather is hot and the work does not materially develop our eleven for next fall, but, as Coach Haughton is a member of the sub-committee on football rules, this practice will have an important influence on the working out of the new game...

Only 17 men reported to Coach Haughton for voluntary practice at Soldiers Field yesterday. As a result, two teams could not be lined up and the work on the new rules had to be confined to practicing simple formations and trying out elementary plays. A little punting and passing was done. Unless there are at least enough men to make up two elevens, very little headway can be made and Coach Haughton would like every man of any experience who can possibly do so to report this afternoon...
