Nikia's Dream, has a beautiful melody for the oboe, taken up by the violins, and then changing to a subject employing the whole orchestra. In the second, In the Hammock, the pricipal theme is introduced by the clarionet and worked out by the strings. The two pieces are excellent examples of the modern French school, unpretentious and not deep, but pleasing and melidious with rich instrumentation...
