...International Heraldic Institute's letter to Gordon Ickes states that the name Ickes is found in ancient records under various forms-Icke, Ike, Icken, Iken, Ihk, Ihken, Itzken, Itken, Ickel, Ickels, Ickes-and that these are all to be found in Heintze-Cascorbi's Die Deutschen Familiennamen, Berlin, 1933.
