Dudley pitched for seven innings for the Harvard team, and struck out the Roxbury Latin batters at will until the seventh inning, when a three base hit by Schoenfuss and an error by Jaynes gave the Roxbury team their only run. He was replaced by Winsor, who was equally effective. Jaques gave both pitchers good support and threw well to bases. The infield had but few chances, but did not accept them with the speed and accuracy which will be necessary against a stronger team. Jaynes, who played in centre field yesterday, was very slow in the field and weak...

...field the Freshmen played well, accepting every chance without an error. The infield gave the pitchers good support, and handled the wet bali well. Bennett, at short-stop, was fast and accurate in fielding, but made some poor throws. All the fielders, in their eagerness for swift fielding, were not careful enough in throwing to bases...

...played on the practice diamond, thus bringing the sun in the batters' eyes and helping the pitchers considerably. Taking this into consideration, Clarkson's work in striking out sixteen men was not remarkable. Clarkson pitched a steady game, and Dartmouth's only two runs were the result of an error. Although Varney was hit oftener than Clarkson, he kept the hits well scattered. His support in the field was not good. Harvard did well in the field, except for Story's wild throw and Coolidge's failure to field a ground ball; but the showing...

Harvard went out in order in the first inning. In the second, Reid was hit by a pitched ball; then Frantz drove a high fly over Ford's head for three bases, bringing Reid in, and scored on Uniac's error on the throw in. The next three men went out and Harvard did no more scoring until the seventh inning. Dartmouth did not get a man as far as second base until the fourth inning. Then after McCarten's strike-out French got to second on Story's wild throw after a good stop, and scored on Pingree...

With these additional powers, some of which may have already existed but have not been clearly defined, the coach would have to assume additional responsibilities. He should be made to bear the bulk of the blame for any error in the selection of the judges or for the use of a man on the team who has shown himself, in the course of training, to be unfit for the contest. Under the present system the coach is in danger of being blamed for shortcomings, on the part of the members of the team, which he cannot avoid...
