...pitching of both Nichols and Murphy was very wild, owing to the wetness of the ball. For Brown, Basset, and Chase each played extremely well, and Wadsworth did some very good as well as some pretty bad work on third base. For Harvard, Allen did far the best playing, holding Nichols' very swift and wild delivery beautifully. Nichols' pitching, though wild, was as effective as it well could have been, for ten men struck out and not a base hit was made off him. Lovering played very well at second base.
