Such nines as those of the Newton High School and the Braintree nine, do not offer very formidable opponents to our freshmen, but every game familiarizes the men with one another's style of play, and tends to make the nine a unit. ...congratulated on its victory of yesterday. Handicapped as it was, by the loss of two of its best men, it made an excellent showing for the first championship game of the year. The change battery surpassed the expectations of the most sanguine, showing up much better than the regular Brown battery. The fielding of the nine was very good, even for a nine which is noted for its fielding, while the batting was quite heavy.
