Into the Air. In 1923 Ben became a U.S. citizen, went on to Texas A. & M., got his B.S. in engineering, an R.O.T.C. commission, and a yen to be an architect. But Depression-time was rough for fledgling architects, and besides, Ben had got a lot of fun walking miles out to the dirt fields near San Antonio to watch the U.S.'s flying cadets putting their de Havillands through their paces.
