Certainly, merely eliminating fast-food restaurants around schools is not enough—education about healthful eating habits and exercise is absolutely critical in reducing obesity rates among youth in the United States. But removing combo meals from daily lunches is certainly a step in the right direction. Several surgeons general in the last century took an aggressive stance on smoking; obesity is a similar major public health hazard and thus deserves a similar treatment. ...just me or is everyone giving their dog a human name? There's a list of the most common names among policy-holders for pet insurance and the most popular dog names are Jake and Chloe and Bella - they're very similar to the names in my daughter's preschool. They're not the kind of names you'd find in dog cartoons. There are no Spots or Fidos. I think that speaks to what's going on and how we view pets as a part of the family.
