...Some of Nixon's men are emerging at last as fairly colorful in their business hours as well. White House Aide Clark Mollenhoff's attack on opponents of Judge Clement Haynsworth on a Washington television program was so vehement that it caused one of the participants to threaten a libel action. Mollenhoff's repeated fulminations led to a Washington jape about the "Mollenhoff Cocktail-you throw it and it backfires." Deputy Attorney General Richard Kleindienst, an old Goldwater operative, sits up front on the Nixonian stage, riding shotgun for John Mitchell on the Moratorium marchers. Everywhere...

Local party leaders and contributors were enlisted to threaten to cut off Senators' support. Cabinet members warned of possible lost patronage. Bearing down on Republican William Saxbe of Ohio, a White House operative ordered Ohio loyalists to "look into his personal finances." The order was canceled, but not before Saxbe got wind of it. Among such codicils is the well-known Hickenlooper Amendment, which could be invoked to punish Peru for its nationalization of the American-owned International Petroleum...

...create such a way cannot be relegated to a subculture which focuses on their separateness and shuts them off from appreciating all that is available and may be useful to them. In a subculture the only reaction can be a defensive one, fearful of any challenge that might threaten their own solidarity. Instead, people must be made aware of their total environment and of all its possibilities. For them, and for others trying to understand what they are out to do, there is a book. It is a coming together, not only for those who think they're with...
