FROM the games that have been played it is difficult to form a correct judgment about the Nine, Wednesday's game with the Beacons being such an improvement on the disgraceful exhibitions at New Bedford and Boston. The weakest point seems to be the batting, only one base-hit being made in the whole game, and many of the men seeming to be surprised into striking. It is useful to have enough copies of a play reserved to enable each of the candidates that are at work in the Library to have a book; but when an instructor puts every good edition on the reference shelves, many who wish to do work outside are greatly inconvenienced.
