...story of the game is that of the third and eighth innings. In the third McCornick made a double, the first hit of the game. Hayes and Laughlin followed with singles, and were in turn brought in by Sedgwick's wild pitch and Burgess's home run. Haughton was then hit by a pitched ball, but went out at second on a choice of plays, when Reid hit to the infield. Reid, however, was retired at second on a short hit by Robinson, who scored on Lewis's single and LeStages's error...

...make-up of the 'Varsity nine was considerably changed during the game. Cozzens started in to pitch, and for two innings proved very effective, but was found for three hard hits in the third. The team went to pieces on Saturday in a manner which is unaccountable, unless it is to be ascribed to Fearey's failure in the box. Who will pitch in the coming game is not yet determined, but it seems probable that both Captain Greenway and Hall will be put in, and possibly Stickney of the Freshman team. On the whole there is a feeling of hope about the nine, though the University is waiting before making up its mind...
