DIED. ALICE FAYE, 86, one of Hollywood's biggest late '30s and early '40s movie box-office draws; in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Faye starred in Tinseltown's popular and lucrative cookie-cutter musicals and, with her distinctive contralto, introduced several songs that became pop standards, notably You'll Never Know in Hello, Frisco, Hello (1943).
