Ingraham won his match with Pierpont after losing the first set, 6-1. In the first set Ingraham played a backcourt game, but in the next two sets he ran to the net at every opportunity and won rather easily. Pierpont's lobs were short and ineffective. Parke's victory over Holt was rather unexpected. He played a very fast game, out-classing Holt at every point.
