DURING the months of July and August a discussion was carried on in the Nation in regard to the Harvard Divinity School, which attracted much attention, and called forth a number of letters on each side. ...AUGUST 20th, at the Capitoline Grounds, Brooklyn, in the games of the Putnam Athletic Club, the well-known amateur sprinter, W. C. Wilmer, broke his leg at the finish of the one-hundred-yards race. The ground beyond the end of the sprinting course is a steep embankment, and Wilmer could not stop himself in time to avoid injury. This accident is much to be regretted, as Wilmer will of course be kept off the cinder-path for the rest of the season, and will not be able to compete against the English amateur sprinters who will soon visit...
