Ammerman of Danville, Pa., is a member of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a very fine base ball player. An influential member of the Harvard nine was in town yesterday and today endeavoring to get Ammerman to leave Pennsylvania and enter Harvard. He offered to have Ammerman's tuition and board at Harvard paid and give him a cash bonus besides. He even went so far as to tell Ammerman that there was a ticket to Boston waiting...
...temporary refusal of the faculty to allow the Glee club to make a Christmas trip was announced as final yesterday, and so a pleasant custom which was thought likely to become a fixture has been broken almost at the start. The only reason advanced for the refusal was that such a trip as that proposed is contrary to the whole policy of Harvard-that it is not her desire to advertise herself through any one of her organizations. The excuse given is hardly sound, for if the argument were consistently carried out intercollegiate athletics would be entirely abolished...

...regular meeting of the Shooting club was held at Watertown yesterday afternoon. The attendance was large, but the shooting was hardly up to the average. The first event was the match for the Founders cup, which was won by S. Paine, with a score of 11, MacKay and Bacon were second wish 10 points each. The final score in Match A was next shot. Bacon won first place with 18 points out of a possible 20, and Hastie second place with 17. The best scores in Match B were made by Gould and Pike...
...Chapel choir opened the Vesper service in Appleton Chapel yesterday afternoon with the anthem "Thy sustaining Grace" by Martin. The congregation read responsively the 145th Psalm, which was followed by a prayer by Dr. George A. Gordon. Mr. D. M. Babcock, '87, then sang with great feeling "O Great Jehovah" from Mozart's Magic Flute. Dr. Gordon preached a short sermon on subjects suggested by last Thanksgiving Day. Mr. Babcock then rendered "Hope in the Lord" from Handel's Largo, and the choir sang the 200th hymn...
