Harvard's Yardling soccer team scrapped with the University of Connecticut freshmen for two quarters then pulled together for five second-half goals and a 7-0 victory Saturday afternoon in Stoors, Connecticut.
Harvard's Yardling soccer team perse-vered yesterday afternoon, scoring three goals in the fourth period to defeat Andover, 4-1, on the Business School field. Conditioning and ball control were the decisive factors as the Crimson wore down a gritty Andover defense.
The Crimson began to pressure the Blue goal in the third period then produced the winning margin with its fourth-quarter barrage. Meanwhile, the Yardling defenders had only to turn back occasional Andover fast breaks in the second half.
The freshmen did equally well though a Yardling failed to place first Captain Tom New was running with Northeastern's Tony Frontierro in the lead until with about half a mile to go. Frontierro started a kick which New could not match beating him by five second.
