It's been a long, hard year so far for the Yardling basketball team. Harvard's freshman quintet has a record of no wins and five losses. The closest they have come to a win was a 68-65 loss to M.I.T.
Ten returning lettermen, led by all-Ivy epee specialist Nick Spitzer, the squad's captain, will wield swords for the Crimson. Backing them up is a spirited group of sophomores up from a Yardling team that posted a winning record last year.
Springfield is also sending a freshmen team to Cambridge this afternoon, and the Harvard freshmen are looking forward to their arrival. Australian record holder Nevill Hayes, Andy Grinstead, Jim Seubold, Steve Teaford, and John Holland should lead the Yardling triumph.
Winthrop has been even more impressive than the Yardling champs, rolling up unheard of scores, such as 74-0 against Lowell. The Puritans had their greatest difficulty with the Kirkland team which it vanquished by the barely respectable margin of 20 point, 27-7.
The Yardling squad has been improving steadily since its loss to Dartmouth three weeks ago.
