Last year the management of the winter meetings did not take all the care possible to make the sparring fair. Gloves were neither furnished by the H. A. A., nor were those the contestants were allowed to provide weighed or examined. It makes a great difference in the effect of a blow whether it is struck with a five-ounce glove or one which weighs but two; and gloves should either be provided by the association, or those of the contestants should be weighed with as much care as is bestowed on the men themselves.
