...Like veterans of a long war, we accumulated stories. My grandmother once collected several hundred dollars when she was misheard at the ticket window and given a trifecta she hadn't asked for, but which hit anyway. The entire Habib family got rich when an exacta combining Sweet Charlie (my father's nickname) and Texas Gentleman (my uncle then lived in Houston) defied long odds. I leave the lot, step off the sidewalk and out onto the pavement, well in front of a white stretch limo. The driver stops beside me and shouts from his window, "Was that a smart fucking idea?" ...real-life story, and the whole think just stinks of manipulation...Are Gwyneth and Ben Affleck officially dating again? Or are they just sleeping together until they find new love toys? I think we know the answer... Oooh. A girl just fell flat on her face right outside my window. She's not moving. Really, you have to watch out for the "black ice." It's deadly. I better go help her. Maybe she'll star in my music video...
