...Performance opportunities on campus are great, but you don't have the same chance to practice and focus," Darling says. "Here it is totally normal for me to play two to three concerts a week, but at Julliard everyone practice for at least five hours...
...This week marks the kickoff of the Undergraduate Council presidential elections, which will once again enliven the debate between two entrenched ideological factions. The right, led by presidential candidate Justin A Barkley '02, advocates a council whose sole focus is expanding student services like holiday shuttle buses and Springfest. The left, led by Stephen N. Smith '02, advocates using the "power" of the council to promote noble goals like world peace, worker's rights, and environmental protection, while "bringing people together" through the conservative themes...
...council year typified by the scandal of "Button-Gate" and the floundering failure of Harvard Census 2000, last week's "Days of Dialogue" was a welcome breath of fresh air. We do, however, hope that this year's "Days...
...Reports earlier this week that a Jordanian-American arrested in Syria was connected with the bombing remain speculative. Although NBC reported an unnamed U.S. intelligence source as claiming that Raed Hijazi was a Bin Laden associate and had trained the Cole bombers, Jordanian officials and U.S. sources in Jordan could not confirm either claim. Hijazi was extradited from Syria to Jordan, where he was convicted in absentia for his role in a plot to attack American and Israeli targets in Jordan last New Year. That plot was foiled by Jordanian intelligence officials, and six of the 28 accused - including Hijazi...
