...NOTICED in your last issue a very violent tirade against everybody in general except the writer, who signs himself X' 81. I have not troubled myself by reading the communication from his "undexterous classmate." While X' 81 complains of being sneered at by the upper classes, he does what is much worse, - sneers at his own. He complains of the Sophomores especially. I will venture to say that no Freshman class was ever better treated by the Sophomores than the present one. It has always been the custom for the Sophomores to look after the little boys, and to forbid...

...rude in any way, they are looked down on by all the other classes. Perhaps, however, one of the reasons of their unpopularity is the fact that they come here no longer as boys, and are not willing to be treated as such. They do not recognize the upper classmen as a superior race, and they dislike especially to be sneered at by men who were so recently in the same position, i. e. by Sophomores...

The Freshman companies drill four nights weekly, two nights under General Lister, and two under instructors who are candidates for positions in the corps. The election for officers will be held...

...sunlight as they dip the water, and the regular "swash, swash," of the stroke floats down the river. It was high tide, and from the balcony I could see the boat glide past the piles and through the bridge, shoot on past the gas-house and the upper stone-works, turn with the river to the left, then to the right, and finally stop off the Winchester estate, with its groves and lawns and picturesque boat-house...
