Nathans attributes the high rate of turnover among FDO administrators to the nature of the position.
They say discomfort with Nathans' disciplinary and managerial policies was a major factor leading to the remarkably high turnover rate of FDO assistant deans in the seven years since Nathans created the assistant dean position.
With the new administrative structure under Nathans came a new attitude toward disciplinary cases, many former assistant deans say. They say they felt she was inappropriately harsh with students. Several say their displeasure with her treatment contributed to the high rate of turnover at the FDO.
The elections are likely to produce a turnover in the council's leadership, since several members of the council's executive board will not be returning to their posts this fall.
