...rough, the game was very interesting. For the first few minutes the University team was clearly outplayed, and only the good work of the defense prevented Brown from scoring. Both sides relied on individual work and shot wildly when near their opponent's goal. After five minutes of play Townsend scored the only goal of the half on a long shot. Most of the rest of the period the puck was in Harvard's territory, but the Brown forwards shot poorly and did not accept their chances. Willetts was laid off two minutes on account of rough play...

During the latter part of this half the forwards worked together well and the team play was good. Macleod made the third goal on a pretty pass from Townsend.
