...first five minutes of play the second team played a strong aggressive game and kept the puck very largely in the University's territory. After six minutes of play Captain Claflin scored on a long drive past Stanton and the attack of the second team seemed to flag. ...during which time many excellent plays were produced. Among them may be mentioned "Manacles," by H. K. Moderwell '12, "The Scales and the Sword," by F. Bishop '08, "The Night Riders," by Edwin Carty Ranck '13, at that time a special student, "Alaric Jourdan's House," by R. M. Townsend '96, "Kid," by Elmer Caroline Ehrlich, Radcliffe Sp., and "The Foundlings," by Annie Andros Hawley, also a special student at Radcliffe. Townsend scored the third goal on a neat pass from Phillips who had forced the puck by the Tiger defense. A minute later Wanamaker...

The right wing, MacDonald, is probably next to Sweeney, the best player on the Yale seven. Like Townsend, of the University team, he is somewhat handicapped by his small size and lack of weight, but his quickness and remarkable stickwork more than make up for this deficiency. He is an exceptionally hard shooter and in play off the boards is excellent. Bierworth, at coverpoint, is a strong defensive player...
