...special points in which the Bible shows the way of social reform are; by making us think of men as all belonging to the family of God, and as brothers, that it is the constant source of a spiritualized good nature; that it prescribes forgiveness and mutual trustfulness, that it leaves us free, making room for all fresh conditions of society, which we must meet as they come to view; that it is the book of hope. The perception of the Social problem and its urgency is the pledge, to those who have the Bible in their hands...
Bright though our memories on the dead should be, when we think of the qualities that made them what they were, there are times when to many these thoughts can only bring sadness. The early days of the war were full of doubt and terrible anxiety for all; and as the struggle went on, the suffering and bloodshed increased month by month. In my opinion the ballet music recently performed is only a fair sample of the whole work...
...point mentioned by "Determination" as to the posting of the price lists of goods purchased is left entirely unanswered. Such publication was ordered by the Foxcroft Club but the order was deliberately disregarded. Until some explanation of this is given I do not think the auditor is justified in saying that "Randall Hall is run entirely by students of Harvard University." The statement that the buying at Randall is as economical as that of the stewards at Memorial and the best Boston hotels is of little value unless we are told on what lines the comparison is made. No list...
