...glad to notice that the Yale Record takes their freshman eleven to task for their conduct in "crawling" from the foot ball match with Harvard. The Record in closing its editorial says: "There are more euphonious terms than 'crawl,' but none more expressive," and then concludes by adding: "Whatever may be said as to the wisdom of the captain, the chief fault lies, without doubt, with those men who did not care enough for the athletic honor of their college to forego the little pleasure of which an early return would deprive them. The longer they stay at Yale...

...approbation of the gentlemen with whose correspondence we are honored. We are told that the abolition of chapel will tend to diminish the spiritual and material welfare of the college, and that, as a unit, our students are not in favor of the change. Moreover, we are taken to task for handling our correspondent's letter too severally. We are told that our claims to age and experience are not sufficient to entitle us to the right of assuming the guidance of the university in its religious matters, and, we are sorry to add, our critics couch their reproof...

...confidently predict that the entire student body, practically, wishes its abolition. Any claims to superior age or wisdom, we wish modestly to deny: it has always been our object, as our correspondents know perfectly well, to voice the sentiments for our students, not to "arrogate to ourselves" the task of their guidance. One thing must, however, be remembered; we reserve the right to make such comments...

...twenty members of the Shooting Club who met at Watertown yesterday were favored with conditions which ought to have made it an easy task to run up clean scores on the tally sheets. For some reason, however, the shooting fell below the standard reached a fortnight ago, though the figures shown at the close of the afternoon's work were fairly creditable. The matches of yesterday were of importance, being the last competition but one in the current series; the result of the shooting serving to show approximately how the chances stand on the final award of prizes. Everything went...

...afternoon, no better weather could have been desired by the shot-gun men for their weekly shoot. As it was, the gale which lasted during the entire afternoon, made shooting in the open air anything but comfortable, and rendered the attainment of anything better than an average score, a task of extreme difficulty. The present series of matches, in which the second competition was held yesterday, has proved to be more popular than any heretofore held by the club. When the matches were opened there were present seventeen members, whose energy in turning out on such a blustering afternoon...
