When John F. Hylan first became May, or of New York City, every newspaper in the metropolis except the Hearst sheets dedicated itself to the task of discrediting the city's administration. During the last four years they have gone to every length to persuade their readers that Hylanism must be eradicated. Investigations, exposes, ridicule--every journalistic weapon was employed. And yet, on Tuesday last, Mayor Hylan was re-elected by an astonishingly large plurality...

Dartmouth has a new plan to meet the perplexing problem of limited enrollment. The idea of separating the sheep from the goats is admirable, but just how to go about it is no easy task. As in the schemes advanced at Princeton last spring, the value of the scholar is recognized at once, for at Dartmouth "the man of exceptional scholastic ability will always be admitted without question". Several innovations were introduced at the same time. For instance, where before only a report of the year's work was sent to students at the end of the college year, last summer was added to the report what courses...

...cheer for the right side". When one learns that this was pretty generally the sentiment of the meeting, one is inclined to be a little sceptical of the talk about college men as leaders. If college men feel that they are taking an active part in the great task of the day merely by supporting any expression of belief in limitation of armaments--somewhere, sometime--they had best leave the conferees at Washington strictly alone...
