Modern football tends to assume the aspect of a contest of skill between two experts who use college boys as their instruments of play instead of chessmen or cards. At Yale they are not talking of keeping the coaches away from the game and letting the players play it for themselves. This would, of course, give an advantage to the older and larger institutions with a longer and sounder athletic tradition...

After a monster rally in Woolsey Hall last night at which Coach "Tad" Jones and Captain Aldrich addressed 2300 wildly enthusiastic students, the Yale team left for Boston at 1.40 today, planning to arrive at the South Station at 5.30. The men will be immediately taken to the Belmont Springs Country Club where they will spend the night, the coaches, however, remaining in Boston at the Hotel Lenox...

The period of training was the longest and hardest ever held at Yale, and although the work was handicapped by many football men, among others Captain M. P. ...South Carolina game. Third base is also a sore spot in Yale's lineup. Hickey appeared to cover it at the beginning of the season but has deteriorated in his playing to such an extent that Kelley, captain of last year's freshman team, and Tommy Jones. Tad's brother are now fighting neck and neck for the position. The outfield is not hitting as it should and Hickey and been started in several games in right field replacing Eddy. Slogan has evidently just gotten over a bad batting slump as he got two hits in the last game played...
