...Giuliani strategists are clinging to the idea that marital discord can't hurt you in a race against a Clinton. But Rudy is running against the wronged woman, not the philandering man. And the pain in Hanover's eyes is not likely to be forgotten by some of the suburban women who until now supported Giuliani over Clinton...

...stature gap to close," he says. "But while he doesn't have Giuliani's strengths, he doesn't have his weaknesses either." Of course, name recognition - and national ink - in this race may not be a problem for long. And the young, handsome, likable congressman from suburban Long Island is a good moderate-to-conservative Republican, with none of Rudy's enemies in the state GOP and fewer problems with Republicans in upstate New York, where Giuliani was almost as much of a carpetbagger from Manhattan as Clinton is from Washington. Sprewell, 29, has just moved into a sprawling home in the suburban town of Purchase, N.Y., a sign--like his recent, five-year, $61 million deal with the Knicks--that he's there to stay. Whether or not a band originally formed by two gas-huffing eighth graders in suburban Pennsylvania needs greater insight into working class America is debatable, but the band certainly has some new insights into what makes humorous music. Gone is the penis humor and the sludge-rock sound of tracks like "Poopship Destroyer" and "She Fucks Me." Aside from the loungy swing of "Pandy Fackler" and the oddball Jimmy Buffett-meets-"Hotel California" sound of "Bananas and Blow," White Pepper's tracks either subtly ape the Beatles or not-so-subtly ape the alternaballad crowd that wishes they weren...
