...lightest of the upperclass crews, and does not seem to be quite as good as either the Seniors or the Juniors, but the eight has been strengthened by the return of Barnes to 7, and has improved during the last two days. The Junior crew, under Coach Stephenson, was badly defeated by the second University crew last Monday, and showed many faults in the race. ...Junior crew, under Coach Stephenson, has shown a slight improvement during the past week, but yesterday was easily defeated by the second University eight by six lengths of open water after being given a start of one length. The second University crew stopped at Fairfield street, while the Junior went on to the end of the Basin. After the first minute of rowing the Junior crew went to pieces. The eight is trying to acquire a long, hard finish, with an easy recovery. The Freshman crew is well developed for this time in the season, and should win the race...

Candidates for the upper class crews should report at the Weld Boat Club this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Coach Brown will have charge of the Seniors and Sophomores, and Coach Stephenson of the Juniors. Crew managers will be at the boathouse to receive the names of candidates. All men not engaged in other athletic interests are urged to report, since the crews will be made up immediately.
