Yale started off with a rush. Captain Gould got clear after a quick jump in front of the Freshman goal and scored after 1 minute, 58 seconds of play. Harvard did not stay behind long, however, as Percy tied the score on a pass from Thacher about a minute later. Taylor then put Harvard in the lead after receiving a pass from Morgan.
