...clock. Although the scores made by Carlisle this year do not indicate great strength, the game this afternoon should prove interesting, as Carlisle has always played well against Harvard. Carlisle has only five of last year's team left and one of these, Wheelock is the only star. The team is noticeably light this year, the centre weighing only 158 pounds, and the two ends 141 and 148 pounds. The entire line averages only 166 pounds. What the Carlisle team lacks in weight, however, it makes up in quickness and team play. It will probably resort largely to trick plays...

...circular was sent out yesterday by the Observatory giving the results of the photographs of the heavens in the region where the new star appeared. These photographs were taken before and after its appearance and include negatives made from the spectrum of the star. When the spectrum first appeared, it did not show the star to be different from those of the Orion type, but the change that took place later brought the spectrum into similarity with that of a typical new star. Photographic astronomy has not in the case of previous new stars, shown this change. The star...

...investigations, which will continue for weeks, are at present directed to find whether it will follow the course of such temporary stars, which burst into their full brilliancy almost immediately and gradually fade away -- lasting sometimes weeks and sometimes years. The Observatory's first trial shows its brightness to have greatly increased by Friday night over that announced by Dr. Anderson for the preceding evening until on Friday it was much brighter than the polar star. The exact position on three nights has been measured with the meridian circle and the spectrum has been founed by a photographic attachment...

...collection of its 100,000 photographs the Harvard Observatory is much better prepared than any other to pursue the past history of the heavens. Some of the best negatives of this collection, which stretch back for fifteen years, have been examined for any traces of the new star but noue as far back as 1887 have been found. Since Friday night the brilliancy has decreased if anything. Since 1887 there have been ten new stars found, eight by the Harvard Observatory and two by Dr. Anderson. In 1891, and at the present time, the stars were discernable to the taked...
