...Frustrated, Clinton decided to pack up too - and signaled to both men that he wasn't bluffing. By 10 p.m. Wednesday, he had his motorcade assembled outside his Camp David cabin to take him to Air Force One for the flight to Okinawa. He also had one of his spokesmen announce that "the summit has come to a conclusion without reaching an agreement." That jolted Arafat and Barak, who within an hour told Clinton they wanted to stay at Camp David with Albright and continue. "Nobody wanted to give up," a bleary-eyed Clinton told reporters before he boarded...

Despite its apparent simplicity, this case encompasses myriad legal issues. The Boy Scouts' argument, for example, was prefaced with the idea that gay people are not welcome in their ranks because their presence indicates an implicit approval of a gay lifestyle, which, according to Scout spokesmen, is in direct violation of the group's identity. The Court agreed; their ruling established that as long as the Boy Scouts believe that Dale's sexual identity renders him incompatible with the group's mission, they are free to exclude him. Gore and his spokesmen were left to sputter about Bush's "irresponsible" proposal and how it proved the Governor's inexperience. Indeed, Bush was fuzzy on how many nukes he'd unilaterally cut, something congressional Republicans and the Pentagon have always resisted. His grand missile shield is far larger than what Clinton proposes and is based mostly on unproven technology that could cost hundreds of billions of dollars. And his list of campaign promises is adding up to a mountain of new spending, creating doubts...

...agreement with them, they began very actively to work on mobilizing extreme elements among the Palestinians in Lebanon and certain elements among the Hezbollah to carry out attacks against Israel even after we leave. It's quite a surrealistic picture. You see on the same day the official spokesmen for the regime saying that they accept 425 while the generals, and not only the generals, who are responsible for their presence in Lebanon are pushing urgently to prepare the people, to equip them, to brief them, in order to be ready to launch attacks afterwards. They are playing quite...

Russia has won this round of the battle for Grozny, but only because the Chechens decided to bring it to a close. Rebel spokesmen announced Tuesday that they had abandoned the capital, and Western reporters confirmed that the Russian flag now flies over the fiercely contested Minutka Square. Many of the rebel fighters who managed to break through Russian lines in a bloody retreat have regrouped at the village of Alkhan-Khala, planning to head south into the mountains. Russian forces have reportedly surrounded the village, but haven't tried to advance on the rebel positions there. Capturing Grozny...
